In the Year of The Dragon

Players: Hans, Pat, Jo, JC, Me

I quite like this game actually. Bought it for Jacelyn the day after we tried it out in OTK.

In this game we're princes (try pronounce it, it sounds like princess) of a province. Each trying  to manage our land the best way we can to impress the emperor.

It's a depressing game. People WILL die no matter how awesome your province is.

The game is played over 12 rounds, each round representing a month. And during each month something bad happens - famine, plague, the stupid emperor demands tribute etc. How this game works - we're supposed to farm up victory points via keeping monks, scholars, expanding palace, hiring prostitutes (lol), participating in fireworks event, help fend off mongolians etc, while keeping your men alive, as each men you have is worth points in the end of the game too.

The unique thing about this game is how the turn order is being determined - there's a separate track to remind us that. One can move up the turn order track by hiring people. However the better workers usually gives you much less advancement points for the turn order. So, you can either hire lousy guy who would give you an edge in terms of turn order, but it may not help that much in your game, and vice versa.

Turn order is important for action selection. The last gets all the crappy stuff :P

Each round consists of
1. Action
2. Recruitment
3. Event
4. Scoring

Blue (me) is leading in the turn order track! muahaha.

It's their first game, so AP is inevitable hehe.

 Hmmmmm what should I do..

Jo who probably didnt realise that it's her turn, posing for camera.

The following pictures demonstrate that my girlfriend is very AP prone. :P

Okay okay! I'll do something! Stop chanting AP!

Whoaaaa no money to pay the emperor wth! My precious monks are gonna die!
(He was keeping monks to prove a point to Pat who was happily killing monks)

Scores were quite close towards the end

The game ended with me having 107 points :)

I lost the game before this horribly so i didnt take any picture of it muahahaha. XD
